As the market teeters on making further adjustments due to the latest economic events in Washington, we need to think ahead and decide now how we will maintain our current position in the marketplace. The media continues to bash the real estate market, and that means the near future may look a bit grim.
We need to make sure we continue on track and not allow our progress to reflect what has happened to the stock market. The stock market has lost all of its gain for the year within the past several days.
How will you survive if the real estate market follows suit? This could easily happen. The one factor that we all have in our favor is that shelter is a necessity. We need to determine what phase of the business in our area will allow us to weather the storm, and then we need to focus on it. We’ll need to work it until the market changes again.
If the short sale market continues to thrive, we need to participate in that sector of the business. The rental market has been a healthy segment of the real estate market, and that equates to real estate agents partaking in rentals and maybe property management.
We have the flexibility and the ability to adapt to the changing economy. Most of us have already adapted, but it’s not over yet. We will need to make further adjustments to the way we do business, in order to stay in business. Are you thinking ahead today? What you do today will determine how well you survive tomorrow.
