Do You Wear Your Bulletproof Vest As Stardard Attire When Blogging?

Blogging is a contact sport. I learned that the first month I started blogging. Whenever we communicate with each other, we have contact. With any contact sport, we can get injured. Sometimes we are gentle and other times we are not so gentle. It depends on the topic and the frame of mind of the parties involved.

Some topics are sensitive ones and may create quite an emotional stir. Others may be very controversial and result in a battle. Sometimes we need to be prepared for a response that we are not expecting.

It’s always a challenge to second guess the results of a post. I’ve had to search for my bullet proof vest on many occasions. Sometimes I needed to take cover to avoid a bullet in the head. The vest wasn’t much help.

We never know what to expect from an array of over 200,000 members. When we throw it out there, and it’s opinionated, the outcome might be more than we expected, but that’s what makes blogging exciting. ActiveRain is 200,000+ opinions expressed in 200,000 different ways. Be prepared for the worst and when the result is a positive one, the adrenalin will flow.

As with any contact sport, the more you practice, the more confident you will feel and the more frequently you will want to participate. Just remember to keep that vest close by!!!

"When You Can't Make Them See The Light-Make Them Feel The Heat"..Ronald Reagan

They all see the light at some point, don’t they?  Agents who do not use any form of social media for marketing will, sooner or later, realize that they must pay attention to this segment of marketing.

It’s only been two years of blogging for me, and I feel like I need to work more consistently to make up for lost time.  My firm is offering what we’re calling a “RE/MAX Round Table” and it’s a call to action for agents to become familiar with social media.  It’s time for all of the agents in our firm to get on board and realize that without an Internet presence, their business will slowly disappear.

We’ll be fielding questions about social media; I have screen shots that will show them the importance and the powerful results of blogging; and there will be three bloggers with very different experience levels to answer questions.  If they don't see the light, they'll certainly feel the heat after not seeing their names on the screen shots!!!!

Bill Gassett, is the experienced blogger; I’m an intermediate blogger; and Carol Ann Palmieri is a novice blogger.  We each have our different styles and methods of blogging and using social media, and we each have very good results from what we do.  We are all ActiveRain Rainmakers.

This session will be taking place next Wednesday, and we have 15 responses at this time.  There are 95 agents in our firm.  I fully expect that we’ll have a great turnout.  This is a session that should and will be provided periodically with more panel members added as more agents become bloggers.  It’s a win-win for everyone.

Fewer Calls Means You're Not Blogging Enough....

It seems that we’re going through another spell of “fewer phone calls.”  What do you do when this happens?  Do you ask others if they’re experiencing the same scenario?  Do you continue to do what you were doing when it was a busier time?  What’s your plan of attack to make the phone ring more?

It seems to me that the most reasonable plan would be to broaden one’s marketing area, and increase the amount of advertising so it covers a wider range.  Well, you may be saying that the Internet covers the world, and it certainly does, but you know you won’t reach everyone unless your keywords are what buyers are using to search for what they need.

The bottom line would be to continue to improve the use of your keywords.  Add more keywords to your current list.  Do you have a list?  Do you check your keywords to see how much competition those words have?  My list of keywords is approximately 500 for my niche of new construction.  There are so many details to keep in mind while you’re blogging.  Focusing on your keywords are the most important, in my opinion.   The more pointers you learn about SEO, the more success you’ll have with your blogging and Internet presence. Check out Katerina Gasset's SEO to the TOP.....you'll listen to the recordings often.  I know I do!!

Hey Rainmaker....Is Money Pouring From The Sky???

After reading a post by Lenn Harley this morning "Why do we blog day after day?" it inspired me share my thoughts.  Most of us have the Rainmaker status on ActiveRain.  Have you thought about the meaning of that word?

A Rainmaker is a person who makes things happen, an achiever.  How many of you are Rainmakers?  If you're a team leader, are you responsible for making the phone ring and providing business for your team members?  Are you the Rainmaker for your team members?  That's a huge responsibility!!

If you are not on a team, you are your own Rainmaker.  If you stop blogging, the phone stops ringing, and you're out of business.  Not every individual agent is a Rainmaker, but that doesn't mean they are not good agents.  One needs to be committed to marketing in order to make the phone ring.  It's a big commitment of time and money.

Not all agents can make that commitment, and those are the agents who are candidates for joining a team or working in a conventional office where the office is responsible for making the phone ring.  The split is larger for the office, but the responsibility to market does not exist for that agent.

When non-productive but capable agents leave a RE/MAX or a Keller Williams, it's because they do NOT market for business, and the phones have stopped ringing for them.  We all need to make that commitment to market or find the right real estate environment that will market for us.

The Power Of Blogging....Sellers Find YOU....Buyers Find Your Listings!!!

Timing is everything, and there is a right and a wrong time to promote your achievements.  Publicity is part of our profession.  We're like politicians, and we need to promote ourselves.

There's a good time and place for self-promotion.  Online marketing is a fine platform to use to picture frame our accomplishments and to promote ourselves and our inventory.  How will anyone realize they should call you to market their property, if you are not visible?  Tell the world about your niche, your achievements and direct them to you!!

The online visibility will guide future potential buyers and sellers to call you.  Once they have found you online, and you have made an appointment to meet with that potential client, the focus is off you and "on them."

You don't need to continue to pat yourself on the back.  You already did that, and it worked.  The only interest the clients will have, from this point forth, is to know exactly what you will do for themJust as they found you online, so too will the future buyer of their home find it online.  The power of blogging!!!  Show them how it works!!

Blogging Is A Human Thing.....We Touch Each Other's Lives!!

Blogging everyday is a very important task, and after reading a post this morning by my friend, and yours, Richard Weisser titled "What can You Do When Your Blog Becomes a Blahg?"   I thought I'd share my opinion.  As Richard stated, we all have our "off days" but we need to continue to function.  I have not experienced missing a day of blogging, yet!!  I hope it doesn't happen.  Even during the proxy error days, I was able to sneak one in every day.  They weren't very thought provoking because I knew I wouldn't have the time to ponder for long.  Once the proxy error message appeared, the game was over.

I've read many comments on a variety of posts that relay something to the effect of once the habit or addiction is interrupted, it's difficult to get back on track.  My response to that is "ask someone with a real addiction how difficult it is to get back to the habit, once it's interrupted!!"

Blogging is not a habit.  It's a commitment to being dedicated to a necessary marketing task It's a discipline.  There are good, bad and ugly days that produce blogs reflective of that particular description of the day.  Your blog should always be a true reflection of your feelings and your true being.  Our messages reflect how human we are, and isn't that what it's all about?
