"Discipline Is The Bridge Between Goals And Accomplishment"...Jim Rohn

We’re approaching that very important time of the year when we start thinking about the new year that’s just around the corner.  Goals will be set soon for 2012, and before we set those new targets, we need to be honest with ourselves about the results of the past year.

We always learn from what we’ve done in the past.  If you did not meet your goals for 2011, it’s time for some honest answers to some very important questions.  Are you doing what you enjoy?  Is your job an effort every day?  Is it time to change your directions?

In establishing our new goals for 2012, the topic of discipline always surfaces.  One cannot be disciplined if the task is not enjoyable.  The discipline to perform a task that is dreaded will end quickly.  The more one dislikes the task, the quicker it will end.

Marketing is one of the most important tasks that a real estate agent will describe in designing a game plan for 2012.  The goals that will be set will be a result of the marketing that one will provide.

Make sure you enjoy the marketing that you need to accomplish every day in order to meet your new set of goals.  Online marketing will be at the top of your list.  If blogging is not enjoyable, make adjustments to your existing online marketing so that you look forward to doing it.

Rather than writing narratives about your inventory, provide Realbird websites for each listing; rather than offering a free market analysis in the form of a narrative, post a direct mail postcard with a brief description of what you’re offering; if you want to provide self-promotion posts use colorful charts that will say it all.  There are many different ways to provide the online marketing that you’ll desperately need to meet your new goals.  I use all of the above and it works well for me.

Make a list of the methods of marketing that you enjoy before you create your new marketing plan.  As an example, if door knocking isn’t appealing to you don’t do it.  Discipline is not difficult if the task is enjoyable.  "Discipline is the bridge between goals and accomplishment" and there will be no "pause" in that journey if you enjoy what you do.

This post was inspired by a post written today by Fernando Herboso titled "Before you can change your future you must change your past."
