Most real estate agents are creatures of habit. We have schedules to follow for showings, listing appointments and our marketing tasks. We have time blocked for paperwork and follow up phone calls. Our days are full and sometimes over flowing.
I remember well that if something interfered with my daily routine when I was actively working in the real estate business, I did double time to get back on track. Having a daily schedule and a “to-do” list was always a requirement for me. I didn’t leave the office until the list was complete and every task was checked off.
Procrastination is not a word that real estate agents should have in their vocabulary. It’s a precursor to losing business. When your schedule is so full that you can’t handle all of the business yourself, it’s time to think about creating a team.
One team member at a time works well. Everything is a test and each new task and happening must prove itself as a “keeper” before it’s carved in stone. It took me one year to let the dust settle and find two new team members who met my expectations and had potential to be at the top. I found them.
Once you have created what works for you, don’t waiver. Keep the routine; help improve the team members schedule so they work in an organized fashion; and continue to move forward. That’s how The Kuney-Todaro Team works every day, and it’s a policy that we will maintain in 2012. Some things never get old; they just improve with age!!
