Newbies...Write What You Know....Veteran Bloggers Too!!

We’ve seen many posts recently directed to Newbies and talking about the various ways to “get off the blocks” with blogging.  I don’t want to “beat a dead horse” but I’d like to share my thoughts on this topic.  Remembering back two years ago (sept. 30 was my first day of blogging) I posted 9 blog posts that day.  I’ve never been short of things to say!!

My first day was noticed by Lenn Harley, and I’m very thankful she was paying attention and pointed out the first of my blunders.  The best advice came from Lenn and to this day, I pass that same advice on to other Newbies.  Lenn made a simple statement of “write what you know.”

Well, the rest is history.  I continually write a variety of topics about what I know.  Some of those topics are marketing, new construction, listings, managing agents and teams.  You’ll never see a post on financing or short sales or REO properties, just to name a few topics that I do not have a vast knowledge of.

Whether one is a new or veteran blogger, one will have confidence if he/she is well versed on a topic.  Make life easy for yourself, and “write what you know.”  The words will flow as if you were speaking to another person about the topic.  You’ll enjoy responding to comments, and your commenters will enjoy the dialogue.  Blogging will be fun if you are enthusiastic about the task of blogging, and what better way to show enthusiasm than to be writing about your passion?
