What’s good work ethic? Do you watch the clock when you’re in the office? Do you make sure you have a day off, even if you have a pile of paperwork or follow up to do?
I think agents have changed their definition of good work ethic. Many agents think they are “deserving” and the client does not come first. The agent will work when it’s convenient to the agent.
Maybe it’s old school training, but I was trained to respond immediately to a potential client and not negotiate around our free time. Old school training describes a day of work to mean you stay until your work for that day is finished. You don’t start the next day with yesterday’s work load.
I think times have changed and maybe the definition of “work ethic” has changed too. I hear of agents who only return phone calls during certain hours of the day; agents who do not return phone calls for many days; agents who fall off the face of the earth after they put a deal together; and I want to give them my honest thoughts, but I bite my tongue. I have the scars to prove it!!! The definition of good work ethic is not what it use to be!!!
