If there is a key word to be used today to describe listing agents, I think the word “nurturer” would be my word of choice. The listing agent is the nucleus of most transactions. We’re the core around which everything else evolves or disintegrates.
We need to nurture the buyers who have the upper hand today, as we all know; the buyers’ agents who have more control over the buyers than anyone; and the homeowners who are relying on the listing agent to direct them to the closing table with as much money as possible.
Does anyone nurture listing agents? We are at everyone’s beck and call. We need to control everyone but handle them with “kid gloves.” If we get tough, they run; if we are firm, they shy away; and we all know, there are always greener pastures for them to roam.
We need cooperation from all parties with each transaction in order to meet at the closing table. The best way to accomplish that is to nurture everyone.
Listing agents encourage, help, support, back-up, endorse and we're there whenever anyone needs to be nurtured. Do you nurture or neglect? We all think of ourselves as nurturers, but how do you think others think of you? Listing agent, it may be time to take a closer look!!!
