Anyone who has a mentor tends to mirror that mentor. It's certainly a compliment to the mentor, and it mentally prepares the student to perform as the mentor does.
As I'm watching the pre-NFL program, I'm seeing Coach Mangini who worked under the direction of Coaches Parcells and Belichick. Mangini has lost a lot of weight and now has become his own man. Both Parcells and Belichick have a style of their own and most of the coaches who work under them take on their form. They are successful and mimicking successful people is a natural attraction and occurence.
Do you have a mentor who you mimic? If you do, you're very fortunate, but you should also take on a form of your own. It's important to blend in your own approach and technique to the methods that were taught by your mentor. Establish your own style and create a comfort level that is unique to you, but never cast aside the lessons learned from your mentor.
At some point, you too will become a mentor to someone, and they will establish their own flavor to each of your lessons. Be unique, but stay on track with your newly learned lessons. It's a win-win for you and a great compliment to your mentor.
