Just as we set goals for our personal production and accomplishments for 2012, I also set them for the team. My thoughts on how a team should operate are quite different from most team leaders to whom I’ve spoken.
There are two very important functions of a team leader. One is to make the phone ring and produce business for the team members. The second function is to mentor those members to the degree where someday in the future those individuals will have teams of their own.
I think the grooming and encouragement of individual members to venture forth and take that next step is an accomplishment for the individual, the office and the team leader, as a successful mentor. Many will think of that train of thought as continually “reinventing the wheel.”
When one member leaves, another one will replace that individual. Searching for a new team member takes time and effort, but there are many quality agents who have not reached their maximum potential because they have not been mentored.
This is a new year and it should result in a year of improved income; increased business; learning new concepts; and progressing to the next level that will lead to a new chapter in an agent’s real estate career. We’re ready for the new challenges. We always expect a good outcome.
