Do you tally your loses? When I was actively working in real estate, I lost my share of listings to other agents. Nothing in excess, but I lost a few. No one closes 100% of the listing presentation they are invited to present.
When you lose a listing to another agent, do you try to figure out what happened? Do you dwell on the loss or do you put it aside and go on to the next one? I have to say, I didn’t think about the loss for one moment.
My thoughts were that if I investigated, the reasons would probably not be honest and I’d be set up to lose again. Rather than torture myself, I was on to the next listing appointment.
We need to remember to continue to move forward and not allow anything to stall our movement. Old business that was lost will stall your progress to secure new business. Nothing in the real estate business is a guarantee, even if you think it is. Never assume the business is yours because when you least expect it, someone else makes the score.
Onward and upward has always been my favorite saying, and it applies well to listings lost!!!
