Do you have cliques in your office? The tightly woven group of people who call each other “friends” and have their own set of values have always been a pet peeve of mine. It’s a disruptive force to have in an office.
They are not team players. They march to their own drummer, and more often than not, they attempt to override office policy. Teams are notorious for having the reputation of forming a clique. Our team interacts with everyone in the office, and my team members are too busy to form any type of non-productive activities.
Cliques are a distraction rather than a positive force in an office. The easiest way to dissolve this group that bands together is to remove the leader. When management plays into this arrangement, it usually takes over an office and the non-groupies leave.
I think of our office as one unit; a band of real estate agents who have the same goals and the same target in site. We work as one to capture the marketplace, and that's a powerful force. We are competitive within the office but our strongest objective is to rein #1 in the marketplace, collectively. It’s a healthy, secure and sound environment in which to run a business.
