If your goal is to make "big bucks" then you can expect to devote a significant amount of time, money and effort to prospecting for new business. How you market yourself and your inventory is in direct proportion to the return you'll receive on that marketing investment.
The nucleus of your marketing should be via the Internet. Blogging is the core of my business now, and the other methods of marketing are integrated with my blogging. Most of my work hours are devoted to online marketing via ActiveRain, Trulia and Wordpress. Remember; don't put all of your eggs in one basket. With each post, my online presence improves, and our business is proof of this fact.
Our listing inventory has increased because of direct mail marketing. Prior to most homeowners calling us, they read my posts on my outside blog, and the URL is printed on the postcard. The sellers tell us this information.
Our open house events every weekend have an increased number of visitors and most have seen our open house information on line, with the directions on how to find us. Some have received postcards and read the posts on my outside blog that has the URL printed on the postcard.
All of my marketing is integrated. There's overlap with all of it, and all of it has taken root. It's required consistent use of each method of marketing. I have not missed a beat with blogging, direct mail marketing or open house events, and that's what it takes to drive business our way in this challenging market. It's tough out there, but if you "work smart" and "do whatever works" in your marketplace, you can't help but win!!
