Marketing Can Be Free...But You Cannot Sit In The Office All Day....Network!!

We all know that marketing will make or break us in this challenging real estate environment.  Most of us now have reduced income levels from the booming days.  Marketing must go on with or without funds.  It’s difficult to market yourself without funds, but there are many options.

The easiest method is networking, and this type of prospecting for new business can take place anywhere.  The most productive networking happens within a large group of people, and if you make “the rounds” you will certainly hit upon a few leads.  Every day should be considered a networking day.

We meet people every day, and it does not have to be an organized function.  Everyday tasks automatically create a platform for networking.  Those activities could be as simple as grocery shopping; visits to the post office; taking a coffee break at Honeydew; or just doing errands.  Where ever there are people, you’ll find leads for business.  The best part of networking is that it’s free, and it can be accomplished while you are doing other tasks.  It’s multi-tasking at its best.

Other free methods of marketing are door knocking; cold calling; and last but certainly not least online marketing on some platforms such as Trulia.  The cost of ActiveRain, Wordpress and Realbird are minimal, but this post refers only to Free Methods of Marketing.

Open house events are another source of networking.  One could use signs; blogs on Trulia; MLS postings of the open house and these are online on Realtor.com; and email blasting of the open house information to your database.  One never knows who knows who and that “who” may be looking for another home. 
 
Marketing does not have to cost money, but it’s certainly a lot easier if you can afford to do direct mail marketing and full Internet exposure via a variety of platforms that require a yearly fee.  The goal of capturing all ten titles on the first page of a Google search for your important keywords will cost you some money, but it is pennies. 

Hopefully you will take advantage of the Free and the Paid methods of prospecting for new business.  The more you market, the better the results.
