Marketing is the foundation of the real estate business. Without marketing, no one would know about you or your product. We all know the importance of Internet marketing and how easily it reaches the masses. What about the old method of print advertising?
I haven’t purchased newspaper advertising for several years. I previously did full page ads of my team’s listings and that was a great tool to close homeowners during listing presentations. No one did full page ads. They were too expensive. I was on a one year contract and that still cost me $2,000/week, but I took the chance and it made money for us. Much of what we do is “taking a chance” isn’t it!!!
Real estate marketing is a gamble, if you do more than Internet marketing. There’s no guarantee that you’ll get a return on that investment. If your instincts are good and your branding is working, you have nothing to lose. If you’re fresh off the blocks, it’s like being at the crap table. Did I ever mention how much I love that game?
My print advertising today is done with the use of an in-house “Homes for Sale” magazine, personal brochures, subdivision brochures and direct mail postcards. Not everyone is online with their home search, and there is a need for print advertising.
The majority of the older sector of the age restricted condo buyer does not use the Internet. They continue to rely on print, in one form or another. I prefer postcards for niche marketing and it’s certainly less expensive than a full page of a newspaper. Just thinking about the crap table, again!! Maybe we’ll visit Twin River this weekend for a few hours at the slots!!
