Marketing is the most important task we can do to find business. We market our existing inventory; we market to find buyers; we market to introduce ourselves to the public. After reading a post this morning written by Dorie Dillard titled "It's Not All About You," it inspired me to share my thoughts.
Most agents think of marketing as a chore. Blogging about a listing is like writing an ad, except it's free and it goes online for the world to see. It should include a narrative that would make a buyer or another seller call. The photos should be crisp, clean and taken at an angle. The photos are very important. Most readers will quickly scan the copy and focus on the photos. It's critical to highlight the key phrases so that during a scan, those important facts are noticed.
Your blogs and other marketing materials are a reflection of you. If your postcards don't include "eye candy" they will not be effective. Every piece of marketing material that leaves your office is a reflection of you and your attitude. Make sure your postcards, brochures and blogs portray the high standard at which you work.
We have had visitors to our open house events who are there to observe our marketing methods and our materials before they ask us to provide a listing presentation on their property. Real estate agents are always under the microscope. We are continually being monitored and usually when we least expect it. Be mindful of this fact. Conduct yourself professionally at all times and make certain that all marketing materials are very professional because "they are you." That quality is indicative of your quality!! If you need to cut back on funds spent, reduce another budget item, not your marketing. It's much too critical to your business.
