We all need to think about marketing, and I certainly do as I write blog posts every day. With the inception of online marketing to promote and prospect for new business, agents seem to be doing less networking. I’ve noticed more agents coming into the office every day and spending less time “in the wild.”
Unless we balance that time of online marketing and face to face meeting with people, we will not be reaping the full advantage of our marketing. Balance and variety of methods are both very important factors, if our marketing is to result in business.
I do all of the marketing for Lorraine Kuney, and Lorraine does all of the networking. She’s rarely in the office. She’s out beating the pavement; meeting new people; continually visiting the new communities; and promoting herself and our team.
Just as she networks and has face to face meetings with a variety of people “all day long,” I am online on four or five different platforms all day long promoting our listings and business. It’s the best of both worlds. As online marketing is recognized as an “absolute necessity” for all real estate agents, there will be a need for online marketers to be hired by real estate offices and/ or real estate teams.
There are only so many hours in a day, and just as priorities come into play during the course of a day so, too, will a variety of job descriptions within a real estate office. I think those who are attempting to do everything themselves will eventually run out of steam.
The result will be less production because of less marketing. Eliminate or lessen networking or online marketing and you’ve eliminated or reduced future business. The way we handle our marketing in the future will determine our success in the near future.
