After reading a post written by my friend, Richard Weisser titled “Do you still have “zeal” for your job, or are you just going through the motions everyday” I thought I’d share my thought on this topic. The one statement that we will probably all agree upon is that when times are good in the real estate market, there is no easier way to make a buck. This, unfortunately, attracts every person with a pulse and a license who is in need of funds.
The changing market offers one very important positive factor. It automatically eliminates the agents who do not belong in the business. Broker/ owners are paying for dead weight to occupy a desk space, and they will eventually dismiss the non-productive agents. Some of those agents will fall to the wayside themselves.
The elimination of agents within an office does not change the fact that the market is tough and every day is a challenge. The agents who are actively working in the real estate business must establish goals and focus on reaching those goals.
My enthusiasm each and every day is because I have ambitions that I think about constantly, and those objectives are the driving force that keeps me going. When I’m near the point of reaching that target, I move it up to the next level. I don’t ever want to reach the goal. The only purpose of that goal, in my mind, is to look in the rear view mirror and see it as part of the past. That’s my reinforcement that I’m capable of continuing on this journey.
We’re never at the top. No one is ever at the top in the real estate business. There is no ceiling. There’s always another notch to go, and if you can maintain that mental capacity, you will always have energy to go forth. If you can continue with a positive attitude and radiate energy and enthusiasm for what you do, you’ll continually achieve success.
