I just read a post written by my dear friend, Fernando Herboso, titled “There Is No Easy Road Ahead” and I thought I’d share my thoughts on that topic. The most important function of real estate is prospecting for new business. It keeps us moving and income flowing.
There are those who think of prospecting for new business as an uncomfortable task. There are many methods that could be described as just that. Knocking on doors and cold calling are the first two methods that come to my mind.
Real estate doesn’t have to be made uncomfortable. If your mentor is directing you to focus on a task that is difficult for you to repetitively complete every day, it will never work. The key to success with prospecting is to select a method that is enjoyable to you.
There are many who enjoy door knocking and do it well. Our own ActiveRain member, Jackie Connelly Fornuff is a prime example of an agent who does it well. She’s very successful with this method and enjoys every moment of it.
If it’s not enjoyable, it will be short-lived and your real estate career will follow. There are so many different ways to prospect, and if you test every one of them, you’ll find the right fit. Once you find it, work it diligently and consistently. You’ll continue to improve and your business will also.
