There is no question about the fact that every deal is a tough deal today. We’ve become so accustom to this way of doing business that we think nothing of it any longer. Who is driving the bus today? Is it the agent; the seller; the buyer or the lending institution?
I remember the days when the agent was the director. The agent made recommendations and everyone listened and followed the direction of the director. The agent was truly the bus driver.
Today, we’re fortunate if we find a buyer who follows any instruction other than the direction they read in the newspaper or in the media. They are self-educated and can usually foul up a deal faster than a worm can turn. Because of their misguidance, buyers are submitting offers and it’s not unusual to find a buyer who has submitted 15 to 20 offers and has not secured a home.
The seller is at everyone’s mercy. The seller is at the mercy of the buyer and the buyer’s agent. It’s a very frustrating market for sellers today. This real estate market has no driver. It’s a bus gone wild. It’s a bus that will eventually run out of gas or fly off a ledge like a missile, and the crash cannot come soon enough, in my opinion.
