In most of my blogs that are written about marketing, I frequently use the word consistent within the narrative. Another word that should be prevalent when writing about real estate related tasks is responsibility and the two words should be used simoultaneously. The definition according to business.com is: an obligation to satisfactorily perform or complete a task that one must fulfill and which has a consequent penalty for failure. Well, that definition certainly pin points the battle in which most agents find themselves. They start a task and it never continues to completion. The exercise may be done once or twice with no positive results because the agent does not take responsibility to consistently perform the task.
My major responsibility to my team is to make the phone ring. It's my responsibility to consistently market. Direct mail marketing is performed consistently every month, and it's my responsibility to accomplish that task. Blogging is done every day, and it's my responsibility to make sure my blog posts are submitted consistently and creatively so that potential clients will read them. It's an effort, for sure, but to take either of those tasks lightly would be irresponsible on my part. The results of that failure to accept responsibility for marketing would be a failing team and team members who would not have any income. The responsibilities are great and my failure would be a domino effect within the office.
Are you living up to your responsibilities? To whom are you responsible? Broker/owners/managers have responsibilities to those who work within their office, and those agents have a responsibility to perform successfully for their broker/owner/manager. Responsibility or lack thereof can result in a domino effect that touches other lives. Living up to your responsibilities will make life run smoother for all.
