After reading a post by Harry D'Elia titled "Are you associated with a winning real estate brokerage" I was inspired to share my opinion on this topic. I've only made three office changes in 32 years, and each time I changed, it was not because I was unhappy. It was because I needed a new challenge. You see, my office changes were always to an office that was at the "rock bottom" of the list of real estate offices.
My theory has always been that it's up to me to learn and execute the proper methods of prospecting to gain market share. It's not up to the office to provide that benefit, and it is a benefit to those agents who are handed business. If one is proficient in marketing, the phone will ring and business will follow.
By joining an office that had no presence in the marketplace, and hiring the right agents to support that office, we all joined forces and climbed to the top. The challenges were always great but the energy levels were maintained and the results occurred. The experience of strengthening an office to achieve #1 status is a lesson in determination and dedication that continually intensifies as the process repeats itself at the next office.
The lowest office on the totem pole was always my selection of real estate offices. I learned more from managing and improving that quality of brokerage than I could have ever absorbed in a productive real estate office. It was always a mission and a lesson in willpower, resilience and endurance that cannot be challenged or developed in any other way.
